Can’t Find Loklik Colored Pens in the U.S.? Here’s the Simple Fix I Wish I Knew Two Years Ago

If you’re a Loklik maker in the United States, you already know the struggle: the only pen that reliably fits the Loklik Crafter or Loklik iCraft is the single black pen that comes in the box. Meanwhile, Loklik does make beautiful colored fine‑tip pens… but they’re only sold in Europe and a handful of other countries. Not here.

For two years — yes, two full years — I tried everything to get alternative pens to fit my Loklik machines. I tested brand after brand, hoping to find something that would click into the pen holder without wobbling or coming out. Every time, the same problem: the pens were just a hair too small.

And then today, I finally solved it.

The Pen That Finally Worked (With One Tiny Hack)

I’ve had a 60‑count set of NICECHO dual‑tip brush pens from Amazon sitting in my craft room forever. They’re gorgeous, they write beautifully, and I’ve always wished I could use them in my Loklik machines.

But the barrel is just slightly too thin — not by much, but enough that the machine can’t grip it.

Today, on a whim, I grabbed a roll of masking tape and wrapped a single layer around the pen barrel right where it sits in the clamp.

And it worked!

Perfectly!

After two years of trying, testing, and being disappointed, this tiny adjustment finally let me use my NICECHO pens in both my Loklik Crafter and my Loklik iCraft.

Why This Matters for U.S. Loklik Makers

Until Loklik makes their colored pens available in the U.S., we’ve been stuck with:

  • One official pen
  • No local replacements
  • No color options
  • No way to use the pens we already own

This hack changes that.

It means:

  • You can use your favorite fine‑tip pens
  • You can match your project colors
  • You can finally draw, write, and embellish with more than just black
  • You don’t have to wait for Loklik to expand their U.S. pen lineup

And best of all — it costs nothing. Just a tiny strip of masking tape — that you probably already have in your arsenal.

How to Do the Masking Tape Pen Hack

Here’s the exact method that worked for me:

  1. Choose the pen you want to use (I used NICECHO dual‑tip brush pens).
  2. Wrap a small strip of masking tape around the barrel, right where the Loklik clamp grips the pen.
  3. Test the fit — it should slide in snugly without wobbling. For the iCraft, you shouldn't be able to pull it out of the pen housing once you've screwed the clamp tight.
  4. Adjust the tape thickness if needed (I wrapped mine 3 times).
  5. Load your pen and draw like normal.

That’s it. No adapters, no special tools, no complicated setup.

Why I’m Sharing This

Because I know how frustrating it is to feel limited by your tools — especially when you know your machine is capable of more. I’ve spent two years trying to solve this, and the moment it finally worked, I knew I had to share it with the community.

If you’re a U.S. Loklik user who’s been stuck with a single pen, I hope this little hack opens up a whole new world of color for your projects.

And trust me… after two years of trial and error, this win feels so good.
