Tutorial: “Stuff I Swear I Need” Canvas Pouch | HTV Project

Published on 3 January 2026 at 20:47

This layered HTV pouch is a fun way to practice working with small details and mixed vinyl types. The bold red phrase paired with scattered chameleon blue icons creates a playful, organized‑chaos look that’s perfect for everyday essentials.

Materials

  •  Canvas zippered pouch
  •  HTVRONT Pure HTV (Red) – for the main text
  •  HTVRONT Blue Chameleon HTV – for all icons
  •  Cutting machine
  •  Weeding tools
  •  Teflon sheet
  •  Heat press or iron

Cutting Notes

Chameleon HTV is fussy — it’s thicker, a little stubborn, and tiny details can be tricky.

I had to run 2 passes to get clean cuts on the icons, so don’t panic if one pass doesn’t do it. That’s normal for this material.

Design Setup

  • Type out the phrase “Stuff I Swear" & "I Need” in your preferred bold font. Use the warp tool to curve the text to your desired shape.
  • Add small icons around the text (keys, pen, puzzle piece, safety pin, lashes, etc.).
  • Keep the icons spaced loosely so the layout feels playful, not crowded.
  • Mirror all layers before cutting.

Pressing Instructions

1. Press each layer at 305°F for 10 seconds.

2. Let each layer cool slightly before adding the next to keep everything aligned.

3. After all layers are applied, finish with a 5‑second final press to lock everything in.

Finished Look

A cute, durable pouch with a mix of bold color and color‑shifting accents — perfect for storing all the “stuff you swear you need,” or gifting to someone who embraces a little organized chaos.
